Florida Beach Patrol
This picture started out as a black and white ink drawing. It practically screamed "I NEED COLOR" because, really, it's a flamingo at the beach. So this is the fabric version.
It was the first semester of my senior year's illustration class, and we were allowed to make self-directed projects. We had to state up front what our goal was — what did we want to try/learn/accomplish? My stated goal for this picture was to make realistic skin tone.
At the time, I didn't have enough of a fabric selection to choose an array of skintones, so I ended up using Acrylic paint to give the girl highlight and shadow.
