Henry Hudson's Half Moon
Henry Hudson's Half Moon was the fourth fabric picture in my college thesis.
This ship in this picture is a replica of the ship Henry Hudson used to explore the Hudson River. Today, the ship is operated as a floating museum that sails the Hudson River and Eastern United States giving tours and presentations about Henry Hudson's explorations.
The bridge in the background is the Bear Mountain Bridge. It spans the Hudson just south of West Point.
I hand-dyed both the sky and the water. I also dyed the waves, but they were cut out of a separate cloth and then inserted into the reflective water piece. Additionally, all of the rigging was made using embroidery thread.
