Horses Before the Storm

What girl doesn't love horses? Once I'd gotten confident in my ability as a fabric artist, I absolutely had to make some horses.

I just love the drama of this herd running away from the stormy sky. I also intentionally made each horse a different color because I thought it gave them more of a wild feeling.

I completed this picture before having the benefit of a computer where I could work out colors in advance. As a result, the colors I used for the two horses on the right were all wrong. After I'd assembled the entire thing, I ended up making two new horses, disassembling the right half of the picture, inserting the two new horses, then reassembling the foreground and background. It was a lot of effort to correct a mistake, but definitely worth it in the end.
