Mine Cart Madness

Mine Cart Madness was another birthday gift for my husband. He requested an art quilt depicting Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong from the game Donkey Kong Country as they raced along the abandoned mine shaft in a rickety mining cart in the Mine Cart Madness level. This quilt is my unofficial reimagining of the game.

The original game was a 16-bit sidescroller, so there wasn't too much detail. I took some artistic license and redrew it in my own style, which enabled me to give Diddy and DK personalities along the line of how I imagine they're actually reacting in the game. Alex assembled all of the appliqué pieces himself and I quilted it when he was finished.
