Flamingo in Paradise
There are few creatures more symbolic of the Sunshine State than a pink flamingo. This colorful girl is enjoying her day with a magical flight across the Floridian wetlands. From the tropical colors to the bird herself and even the loopy swirls, this quilt is a whimsical representation of what comes to mind when I think “Florida”.
All of my quilts up to and including this one have used 100wt thread, which is very thin. The pink swirls in the sky, however, gave me a perfect opportunity to try some thread on the other end of the spectrum: 12wt, which is very thick. The fat thread made those swirls so much fun to sew!
