In the Works

I haven't posted about new art in a while, but that's because I've had some big life stuff happening that's taken priority. My husband and I bought a house in January, but since he's away on work travel until March, moving into it has pretty much taken all of my time.
However, I do have two new quilts in the works! Both are completely designed and ready for Cricut cutting, once I pick fabrics and cut my fusible. Here's a preview of what you can expect to see from me in the near future!
Adventure Time
First up is an Adventure Time quilt. For those of you not familiar, Adventure Time is an animated cartoon show that aired on Cartoon Network and recently came to an end. In January of this year, the NY Times named it as one of the best TV dramas since the Sopranos.
Why make an Adventure Time quilt? For one thing, I'm a fan of the show. For another, there's an upcoming exhibition specifically for comics and fan art in which I plan to enter it. The deadline is March 15, so that gives me a month to cut the fabric, assemble the pieces, and stitch the entire thing.

Mine Cart Madness
The next quilt I have in store is another fanart piece. This one was supposed to be my husband's birthday present on January 10 (he asked me to design a quilt of his choosing that he could help pick fabric for and put together.) However, he got the flu and then gave it to me, so needless to say, neither of us was in the mood to quilt. We both agreed we would hold off on making this quilt until after we'd moved into the new house and I finished the Adventure Time quilt, since that one does have a deadline.
As for what the quilt actually is...Alex requested a scene from Mine Cart Madness, a specific level from the video game Donkey Kong Country. In this level, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong are riding in a mine cart at breakneck speed. There's no stopping or slowing down. You, the player, just have to jump each and every obstacle as it races toward you, all while trying to collect as many bananas as possible.
