Back in January, I wrote about three show quilts I wanted to complete this year. But as my year ended up being much busier than I'd anticipated (I started my tenure as a SAQA Board Member, I picked up more teaching and writing gigs, and I traveled to several exhibitions/shows/conferences), only one and a half of those planned quilts were finished. And although I'd of course have liked to finish all of them, my year was successful in other ways, and I'm happy with how things turned out.
So let's have a status update about what was finished, what is in progress, and my new plans for next year.
Echoes of Time and Magic
Although this was originally intended to be my second quilt of the year, it was the first one I finished. I switch tracks in late spring because I wanted to make sure this one would be done in time for the Quilt National entry deadline.

Echoes was accepted into Quilt National '25, so it will be on display at the Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens, OH starting next May. This is why I'm showing a photo from before the quilt was finished in this blog post.
Arcane Snap
Arcane Snape is quilt I'd originally planned to finish first, but it got pushed to the back burner in favor of Echoes.
The current status of this quilt is: all fabrics have been treated with mod podge and are ready to cut.
It will be the first big quilt I work on in 2025 and the plan is to have it ready for the Houston International Quilt Festival.
Looking Ahead - Quilts Planned for 2025
I'm scaling back my expectations this year, primarily because the first five months are going to be very busy with teaching workshops at several guilds and quilt shows. This is going to understandably limit the total amount of time I have to work on quilts. In light of that consideration, here's what I'm planning to work on in addition to Arcane Snap.
Stained Glass Phoenix
This little guy is going to be my donation for the SAQA Spotlight Auction at the conference (April 2025). He will be 6" x 8" wide. I'm planning to also make a few larger versions in different colorways to take with me to Illuxcon in October.
Obi Pet Portrait
I have one more of my own pups who needs a quilt. Obi was our first dog, and he sadly died in 2020.
This will be a 12" x 12" donation for SAQA's Benefit Auction. In 2026, I think I'll branch out to extended family pets.
Steampunk Noble
This lovely lady does not have a title, yet, but her design is almost finished.
She will be fairly small, probably in the ballpark of 24" x 24".
Profit & Loss
The big quilt I want to work on next year is the one I didn't get to this year: Profit & Loss. I'm still very excited about it, but a few of the smaller projects and all of my teaching commitments need to happen first.
As always, it will be very interesting to see how many of these projects get finished by the end of 2025!
