How to Photograph a Quilt
- In this hands-on workshop, students will learn everything they need to take professional quilt photos.
Whether it’s to share on social media, make a sale, or enter a show, having a photograph of your quilt is a firm requirement. If the idea of photographing your quilt is scary, if you’ve had difficulty taking good photos, or you’ve spent lots of money on a professional photographer, this workshop is for you!
Students will:
- Learn the equipment needed to set up a budget professional studio
- Get hands-on practice setting up a professional studio in the classroom
- Learn the correct camera settings on both DSLR and cellphones for photographing quilts
- Practice hanging and lighting their own quilts
- Practice taking professional photographs of their quilts with their own cell phones
- Go home with a professional quilt photograph!
Students should not bring any camera other than their cell phones.
Students are encouraged to bring a quilt to photograph during class. Quilts should be less than 72" x 72". Contact Kestrel for specific inquiries regarding quilts to be brought to this class.
†: There is no Kit Fee for this class. The Materials Fee covers the cost of transporting and using the photography equipment Kestrel will bring.
